Quirks are like endearing little friends that, as with any friend, you have an occasional spat with. Such thinking may be quirky in itself, though I do believe, quirks put the color in character. They are comforting, charming, amusing (though sometimes terribly annoying), and even beautiful as art is (think "My Funny Valentine" by Chet Baker). Oh where would we be, who would we be, without our own personal set of quirks?
In fact, I am quite bothered by people who pretend they are perfectly normal. I know they must have quirks and a weird-side, like any other. They’re just hiding it, and I don’t appreciate it. If they perhaps truly have come to believe that they don’t have any quirks, and are not in the least bit odd, then I suppose not very well interested in knowing them.
Anyway, this commentary on quirks, was inspired when I was tagged, by the lovely Raspberry, with what I refer to as the "Quirks" tag, (though it is really unknown facts, as well). I am a little hesitant to participate in tags when they require me to talk directly about myself (I imagine I'll bore my dear readers), versus speaking of ideas, thoughts, and dicussing various other topics. Nonetheless, I've made an exception. Here are 6 quirks/little known facts about me:
1. I dream most of unicorns and wild horses.
2. If I could be any fairytale character, I would want to be Rapunzel, just to have her hair.
3. I have multiple identities. I'm prone to reinvent myself, and can very well loose myself in self-created persona's.
4. I have to sit on the end of a row of chairs. I am terribly bothered when sitting (though not standing or moving) completely surrounded and in the middle of people. Heaven forbid, the middle chair of the middle row. In school I always sat at the end of a row, as well as, at the desk closest to the door.
5. I talk to myself, often in a British or New Zealand accent.
6. I am slightly insane, and I don’t mind that I’ve lost my mind.

great post! i think that people without quirks are either lying to themselves about not having any or they really don't have any because they don't embrace themselves as a person but rather try to fit! This I find sad because people without quirks are indeed quite boring, and they are not really exploring who they can be!

So here are my 6 quirks:
1. i talk to the computer when i work, blog, or doing anything else for that matter
2. when i find something i like, i have to have a collection of it such as bone china tea cups or 1950's books about housekeeping
3. i can't walk on cracks, i avoid them quite obsessively
4. i only sleep on the right side of the bed
5. when i eat food i mix it all up into a pile (hence i love things like burritos and sandwiches where all ingredients are already mixed up) however interestingly enough i can't stand chicken or meat pies
6. i only wash my hair at night

A lot of these topics are subjective and we do learn from other people's perspectives but it's our own worldview which forms the basis for our opinion. And sometimes, looking at issues from a completely different angle (and not the most conventional one) brings about an insight that we'd never have thought of before. And you've done that for me on more than one occasion!

-i love the sound, and the feeling of certain words such as ethereal, bleak and erie
-i cannot STAND people who behave immaturely, tackily or self indulgently
- when paintings and photos aren't hung straight on a wall, i always have to fix it

Star gazing is THE BEST at my grandmother's place, she lives on an island. So the stars there are amazingggg! I feel like I'm in Star Wars when I look up into the sky at night. Perfect for binoculars or a telescope. I remember one of my best dates was when I went for a walk with this guy on the beach after dinner. Then we lied down on the sand and just stared up at the stars.... sigh. Cloud watching is just as serene. I love making time to just relax, you know?
